A Unique Barn Find Before & After

A friend asked if I would be interested in looking at an old snowmobile his neighbor raced at West Yellowstone around the early 70's. Of course I perked up at the mention of an early race sled.

I made an appointment with the owner to take a look. After we cleared away 35 years of who knows what we finally got to the snowmobile, a 1969 Polaris Colt with a 372 JLO Engine owned by Ted McMillan of Cheney WA.

He said he parked it there in the shed just like it was when he finished racing. We talked about the good old days, and had a great time. I told him I would like to put it back into original condition.

He was excited and wanted to see it when I finished. We talked price and he said... to see it fixed up was good enough for him. The rest is history!

See it on display in the museum anytime. Here are the pictures, before, during, and after restoration.

Notice the unique decal on the hood, plus the megaphone, this could possibly be the first Super Mod Stud...what a great find!
